Iridology is thousands of years old. For example, the Aztecs would have practiced iris diagnostics long before the Christian era. In Europe, iridology was only discovered and studied by the Hungarian physician Von Peczely in the mid-19th century. He was convinced that there was a causal link between the condition of our organs and the structure and shape of the iris. Von Peczely was the first to develop a topographic map of the eyes on which all of our organs, glands, muscles and joints were located. Von Peczely's life's work has naturally evolved over the years. In the 20th century, for example, researchers J.Broy, J.Deck and D.Hall made 'new' maps.
Iridology (iris = rainbow, skopein = search) is a form of diagnostics that makes it possible to recognize functional disorders in the human body through observation of abnormal spots, lines and discolorations in the iris of the eye. It is a method to gain insight into your condition. The iris provides information about a person's disposition, which means the sum of an individual's potential strengths and weaknesses. The colored ring around the pupil (the iris) is, as it were, a map on which the organs from the body are represented. Every area can be seen in the eye, for example the respiratory tract, kidneys, liver, digestion and skin. Marks such as pigment on the area of an organ tell something about the physical situation or the emotional meaning of that organ. The color and the thread pattern of the iris also determine which physical condition (constitution) you have and which lifestyle best suits it. We cannot see diseases, but we can see the places where toxins are stored. In natural medicine we assume that illness arises because the body is less able to eliminate toxins sufficiently or the person is less able to let go of old pain. The toxins that are retained can cause all kinds of complaints. By giving (preventive) attention to celiminating toxins, it is possible to remedy or prevent health complaints. Iridology is a way to gain insight into your constitution. The iris gives information about the predisposition of a person. The predisposition is a blueprint of the individual, consisting of what the strengths of the individual are and the vulnerable characteristics.
